About Course

Experienced instructors guide you through a well-rounded curriculum that includes classroom theory, lab work and actual clinical experiences. You’ll learn about:

  • clinical chemistry and microbiology
  • hematology and hemopathology
  • histotechnology and immunology
  • laboratory practice
  • specimen collection and handling
  • transfusion science

Class time is augmented by hands-on training in labs. You’ll also ge weeks of clinical practicum experience in hospitals and laboratories around the province, including placements in different settings to gain specific laboratory experiences, organizational skills and technical competence.

Entry requirements

This program is to train competent medical laboratory personnel at the middle man power level. It entails exposing the student to basic knowledge and the practices of medical laboratory science.

This is a 3 years intensive semester based programme with a strong medical laboratory exposure component.

  1. Prospective students for this programme must possess a minimum of four (4) credits passes at senior secondary school certificate level/GCE/NABTEB O’level in the following subjects: English language, Mathematics, chemistry, biology and at least a pass in physics at not more than two sittings.
  2. Prospective students will be selected through a competitive entrance examination, where applicable.
